Keenan DesPlanques and Bryce Gordon love skiing the San Juan Mountains, a rugged, tall and remote range in Southwest Colorado. This thoughtful video edit is how they’ve shared that love.
While Colorado is known for its numerous ski resorts and the retail bonanza that goes along with it, backcountry skiers like DesPlanques, Gordon and others tend to eschew the crowds and lift tickets to experience the solitude and the lasting natural conditions (much of this video was shot in the spring) of places like the San Juan Mountains for a different kind of enjoyment.
While backcountry skiing and splitboarding and other self-propelled alpine activities are no easy feat, they are equally as moving as they are invigorating. The two skiers capture that well here.
